Choose your friends carefully

You become like the 5 people you spend the most time with. Choose carefully.
You become like the 5 people you spend the most time with. Choose carefully.

Well everyone 🙂 welcome to some soul searching and that old saying of looking in the mirror once in a while to check ourselves out. I couldn’t agree with this statement more – now in reading what this says and actually taking the time to think about it, it actually involves several points of discussion.

Point #1 – First and most important we should always do a “God check” when doing anything in life, including picking friends – family members or whomever we choose to spend our time with and listen to or take advice from.
A “God check” is sort of like spell check but involves checking if the people we choose to influence us are in line with the beliefs and moral standings that we would like to see ourselves emulate or stand up for.

Point #2 – We ourselves are on this list for other people – relatives and friends. This being said – we must always try to be a good and moral example to those around us. When we are asked our opinions or advice on things – always do a “God check” before we open our mouths or take action.
Its part of our duty as a Christian – parent – relative and friend to not give them the wrong advice because it easier or because its what they want to hear.
We should aways and foremost be concerned with their soul and the long term decisions of anything in life that may come up.

Point #3 – The ones we choose to be in our circle of people we spend most of our time with.
Now, this is the most important # because it can affect our life not only here on this planet but could involve our souls and our chance at everlasting life in paradise – So – be very careful with whom you choose and always – always – do a “God check” with not only any answers or opinions you may get but the ones you choose in general and in the life they live.
Do they do as they say or walk the walk as the saying goes?

Do they give advice that looks out for your long term or just the instant gratification thing that seems to be the new trend?
Do they make you a better person and are they a good role model in helping you go in that direction?
The people either we choose or that are in our lives because of circumstances we can’t control, most certainly have an influence over us and that is why we must choose carefully when we pick and always do a “God check” no matter who is trying to influence us whether we ask for the advice or they just give it.
Now the reason I stress #3 is that I’ve personally seen it do a lot of damage to family and friends.
Being human – we tend to surround ourselves with yes people or those we know will agree with us or tell us the answer we are looking for — NOT GOOD!
This is why I’m adding #4 to the list —–

Point #4 – “God” Keep Him close at all times.
I know the post and what we have been talking about are our human relationships and whom we spend time with but #4 helps us with everything we have been talking about.
God lets us know the qualities we should be looking for in the people we spend time with.
God also lets us know when we are getting the wrong advice or are making the wrong choices.

Now to end this for today — we being human will never make all the correct choices or decisions in life but when we use God as our compass in life we will know the true direction we should be taking and not feel lost or confused. Take care, God Bless
